A grocery cashier app that runs on your phone
Dukkani is a full cashier and point-of-sale (POS) app for grocery shops, mini-markets and supermarkets. A cashier and POS app for grocery shops: what does it do?
- Sell by barcode with the phone camera or a barcode scanner, or by tapping the item.
- Payment methods: cash, card, or on the customer's account (goes straight into the debt book), or part cash and the rest as debt on the same invoice.
- Print the invoice or send it to the customer on WhatsApp.
- Returns, discounts and invoice edits, controlled by permissions.
- Stock goes down with every sale, and it alerts you when an item is running low.
- Daily report: sales, estimated profit, and what should be in the drawer.
How to start in minutes
- Sign up with your phone number and pick “I have a grocery shop”.
- Add your items: scan the barcode and the name fills in, or start with the ready-made items in one tap and adjust the prices.
- Start selling: tap or scan the item, choose the payment method, and that's it.

One sale, step by step
- Scan the barcode or tap the item, and it goes into the basket with its price.
- Change the quantity, or sell by the carton instead of the piece if the item has a carton.
- Choose: cash, card, on account, or part cash and the rest as debt.
- Print the invoice or send it to the customer on WhatsApp, and the stock and the drawer update by themselves.
Things you won't find in a normal cashier
- Take a photo of a page from your paper debt book; it reads the names and amounts, and you check them before they're saved.
- Your customers order from your shop's link or on WhatsApp, the order reaches you neatly with prices and the total, and on delivery it's recorded as a cash, card or on-account sale.
- “Say what happened”: type it in your own words, like “Abu Fahad owes 25” or “sold 2 Pepsi cash”, and the form fills in ready for you.
- Add a new customer and sell to them on credit even with the internet down.
- Take a photo of the supplier's invoice; it checks the total and helps you add the goods to stock.
- Expenses and purchases are deducted from “expected in the drawer”, so you know how much you should really have.
A cashier app for your phone: install it like any app
- Android: open dukkanlink.com in Chrome, and from the ⋮ menu choose “Install app” or “Add to Home screen”.
- iPhone and iPad: open it in Safari, tap the Share button, then “Add to Home Screen”.
- Computer: it runs straight from the browser, with a barcode scanner and printer.
VAT and invoices
If your shop is registered for VAT, turn on VAT and enter your tax number in Settings, and your invoices come out with 15% VAT from the first sale. You can also work out the VAT on any price with the free VAT calculator. Dukkani is also linked with ZATCA (Fatoora — Phase 2): enter your business details and the OTP from Fatoora once, and Dukkani handles the link and sends every invoice and return to ZATCA automatically, and the receipt comes out with the ZATCA code.
Cashier without internet: selling doesn't stop
Selling doesn't stop: cash, card or credit, even for a new customer. Everything is saved on the phone and sent by itself as soon as the internet is back, and the app opens without internet with the same saved number. Invoices you make while the internet is down wait on your phone, and once the connection is back they're sent and show up in your account from any device.
Barcodes and printing invoices
- With the camera or a scanner: Scan with the phone camera, or with a barcode scanner if you sell from a computer and it gets busy.
- An item with no barcode (bread, vegetables, things you pack yourself): print a label for it from the free barcode generator and sell it by scanning like anything else.
- The invoice: Print it on an 80 mm thermal receipt printer or A4 paper, save it as a PDF, or send it to the customer on WhatsApp.
Closing the till at the end of the day
Type how much you counted in the drawer and tap “Close the till”: it shows you the expected amount and the difference (match, short or over), and the result is saved at closing time so it doesn't change later. Debt collections and expenses each get their own line, so you know where the difference came from.
Why a phone instead of a cashier machine?
- No machine to buy, no installation to pay for: your phone is enough.
- See your shop while you're out: sales, debts and stock from anywhere.
- More than one device at the same time: you and your cashiers, each with their own account, permissions and shift.
- In the worker's language: Arabic, Urdu, Bengali, English (grocery app in the worker's language).

Common questions
Is there a free cashier app for grocery shops?
Yes, Dukkani is free with no time limit and no card: barcode cashier, debt book, stock and a daily report. The monthly subscription is optional for shops that sell a lot: it removes the monthly limit on sales and new debts and opens the link with ZATCA (Fatoora — Phase 2), with no commitment.
Is Dukkani a point-of-sale (POS) system?
Yes, Dukkani is a full point of sale for grocery shops: barcode sales, several payment methods, invoices, stock and a daily report, just on your phone instead of a dedicated machine.
What's the difference between a cashier app on the phone and a cashier machine?
A cashier machine you buy, install, and it stays in the shop. A cashier app runs on the phone you carry: the same selling, invoices and stock, you see your shop while you're out, and you can run it on more than one phone, or on a computer with a printer if you want.
Does it read barcodes?
Yes, from the phone camera or a connected barcode scanner. And when you add a new item by barcode, it fills in the name by itself if the barcode is known.
Can I sell by the carton and by the piece?
Yes. You set how many pieces are in a carton and the carton price (and its barcode if it has one), and stock goes down correctly either way.
Does it make an invoice with VAT?
Yes, if you turn on VAT and enter your tax number in Settings, the invoice comes out with 15% VAT, and you can print it or send it to the customer on WhatsApp. Dukkani is also linked with ZATCA (Fatoora — Phase 2): enter your business details and the OTP from Fatoora once, and Dukkani handles the link and sends every invoice and return to ZATCA automatically.
Does it work if the internet goes down?
Yes. If the internet goes down you keep selling as usual, cash, card or on credit, even to a new customer you add right then, and the transactions are saved on the phone and sent by themselves as soon as the connection is back. You can also open the app and log in with the same saved number even without internet.
If my phone breaks or gets lost, do I lose my sales and debts?
No. Your account is saved with us: log in with your phone number and password from any other phone or computer and you'll find your sales, your customers' debts and your stock. The only thing that could be lost: invoices you made while the internet was down, if the phone was lost before the connection came back and they were sent.
Do I need a cashier machine or a computer?
No. Dukkani runs on your phone or any device with a browser, and you can add it to your home screen like an app. And if you have a computer and printer, it works on them too.
Does it give a daily report?
Yes, the daily report shows sales, number of invoices, estimated profit and the expected amount in the drawer, with an explanation of “Why this number?”.
Does it suit a supermarket or a big shop?
Yes. Each cashier on their own device (phone, tablet or computer with a barcode scanner, printer and drawer) with their own account and permissions, opens and closes their shift by counting the drawer, and the owner or manager approves the difference. It reads scale labels (price or weight inside the barcode), sells by the piece and the carton, and tracks expiry dates. It also has accounting with automatic entries, suppliers and receiving goods by photographing the invoice, tax invoices in the business name through ZATCA, and each branch links with its own branch code.
Can the worker use it in their language?
Yes, the app is in Arabic, Urdu, Bengali and English, and everyone picks their own language.
